This website came to be as part of a summer project on creating a “mother blog” for my fall 2017 English 100 classes. For a couple of years now, I’ve asked students to blog individually on course materials and questions, using platforms of their choosing, and then to periodically post public appreciations of classmates’ blog writing on the Laulima course “clog” (the clog is a standard tool that can be activated on any Laulima class site). See links to samples below.
While listening to a recent Teaching in Higher Ed podcast episode on connected classrooms, I learned that there is such a thing as a “mother blog,” which automatically syndicates the RSS feeds of designated websites, which in a connected classroom consist of students’ blogs. I’m excited to get mother blogs up and running in my fall courses.
Instructions on starting your own mother blog(s) are here.
